Ugh, keep it small.  I totally made the mistake of taking both moms and 3 of my 4 BM.  Too many people.  Too many opinions.

I went again with just my mom and dad and another time with just my sister.  It was perfect.  Only having a couple of people allowed me time to form my own opinion.  It's hard to keep a lot of people quiet.

i went on my 9th month i believe to first try on dresses. i went strait to vera wang. i took my mother only with me the first time just to try it on, 2nd time i took 2 of my 5 bridesmaids just for support. everything went well and i purchased "the" dress right on the spot. i cannot wait to go for my first fitting next month sometime.

i agree with only taking 2 people the most. someone you respects opinion but not anyone who will shoot your opinions down or are not postive people... ive seen this scenario on say yes to the dress waaaaaayy to many times lol good luck

I agree with Jagore, I went with my mom and dad only. Then I went back with my sister. If you take too many people all they will do is confuse you and will not let you focus on what you want and are looking for.

As far as timing? I got my dress pretty early, I think I ordered it like a year before the wedding and received it about 4 months after. So it worked out fine, I had plenty of time to take it to the seemstress and make all those alterations.

GL!!! Looking for a dress is so much fun!

Mom and I shopped for dresses, and I purchased the dress with my mom & dad.

The VERY 1st time I took my Best Person, which I wasn't feeling wedding dresses cux I still wanted to loose weight, then one of DH's friends offer to go with me which was the biggest mistake I could of ever done cux then she threw it in his face later that she had done me a favor and NOT her BFF so annoyed by her.

After that I think I went 2 more bridal shops on my own. Then I found my dress....but then instead of buying it through the bridal shop I went through Pearl's Place best decision.

Like Jagore said....keep it simple don't take these huge crowds. I saw other girls in the bridal shop struggle picking their dress cux mama and cuzn but aunite and papa and 2nd cuzn didn't like mama and aunties pick.

Enjoy shopping for your dress it only happens once!Laughing

I just took my mom on my first trip. I wasn't planning on buying anything and I was going to take my two BMs on my next trip. BUT I ended up finding THE dress the first time, so that was that.

I'm definitely going by myself until I have things narrowed down to 2 or 3 gowns. If my mom lived around here, I'd probably take her, but that would be it to begin with.

Once I've got things narrowed down, I'll fly my mom out and take her, FMIL and FSIL. Show them the final choices, and let them have their fun with those. There's a chance FFIL would be invited too, but I don't think he'd have much fun lol.

Just spoke with FMIL about this. I'm going alone at first, then when I've narrowed down things a bit I'm going back with her, maybe MOH. I also don't want too many opinions at the same time, and feel that if I have one or two people whose opinions I trust I can manage just fine.

I took my mom a few times, but most times I went alone.  I knew what I wanted and I didn't care to entertain other people's opinions to dilute my focus.  I was very pleased with the result.
