David's Bridal alterations, yay or nay?

I bought my dress at David's Bridal, need alterations as well as I'm making my dress into a sweetheart neckline, so I'm altering the structure of the dress (fabric, boning, etc). Anyone have experience with DB alterations? I'll be going back to the location I bought the dress in Brea but may get other quotes from reputable tailors in Redondo Beach area. Any input/suggestions? Very nervous I 'll be unhappy with DB's work. Thank you! Meredith

I think DB alterations are way overpriced.  You would be better off going with an independent seamstress.

I've heard the same DB alterations are SUPER expensive! Though I have NOT used them. Just read reviews.

I remember going to Alfred Angelo and when I said I wanted a corset back the rep said it would start $250+ and I just randomly asked a seastrem in the Valley and she said oh $75 closer to $100 I have to see the dress.

I would do my homework and check out an independent seastress!

I would go with Rene or another reputable seamstress.  When I was a bridesmaid, they offered to do a simple hem for like $70.  My mom did my hem, it was free.

And if they give you any fuss about it, you tell them it's none of their business what you do with the dress after you have bought it.

Like the others said, DB is way overpriced. My friend bought her dress there and had the alterations done with them and ended up spending a little over $500 for a bustle, and a little alterations! Save yourself money and go somewhere else.

Totally recommend Reene in Woodland Hills.  I bought my dress at DB also, but she was very awesome and my dress was perfection!

So I went with Best Tailor in Redondo Beach. The reviews were fantastic, saw some wedding gowns had been altered there, went in for a quote and walked out leaving my dress behind and left a deposit. I was freaking out a little though, there was a serious language barrier, but it's like he knew what I was thinking!! And I had read that as well in the reviews. I took a chance, reread the reviews to settle some nerves and I think I made the right choice. And their prices... were awesome!!! I'm on a budget and thought I could cut costs when it came to my dress, but alterations, my fingers will be crossed all the way up to my 2nd fitting May 12th!
