Renting a beach house for Wedding/Reception?

I was wondering if anyone has ever rented a large beach house (looking in the Malibu area, but am open to other suggestions) for their reception? I was thinking of having the ceremony on the sand (depending on how close the house is to the water, otherwise on the property if there is room) and having the reception at the house so it has a more intimate feeling. It would be for less than 100 people, but I'm not sure if this is feasible. I've looked on VRBO.com and got mixed responses about whether the renters would allow such an event. Does anyone know of coordinators or companies that specialize in renting luxury homes for events?

Thanks!

I know you can do a wedding at the Adamson House. It's not RIGHT on the beach, but it overlooks the water. They don't let you do the reception indoors, though - it would need to be outside. Good luck!

I looked at the Adamson house, but wanted a vacation rental so my family from Northern California could sleep there, and the girls could have somewhere nice to get ready at. I just like the idea of it feeling like a "home" wedding except it's not my house.

I really like the idea too, but am having trouble finding a house big enough to accomadate all the guests for the reception.

The other concern my FI brought up was parking is often tight near the beach, a shuttle from off site parking might be needed I think.

Would you be willing to go to Santa Barbara or Ventura? There might be some B&Bs up that way that would work.

You had the same idea Fi & I had.  We gave up on Malibu because there is very limited parking up there and I found that a lot of home owners were skeptical about us having a small reception at their place OR they wanted a $10,000 event fee.  Good luck though!!!
