How Shall I ask?

So my great uncle is in the catering business...

He used to teach at a culinary school...

Anyway...I just found this out about a week ago and I want to ask him to cater my wedding BUT I am not sure how to ask him...

I drafted this email but I feel like I want to say more...

What do you ladies think?

Hi "Unca" Eugene.

This is Kanieka and I am reaching out to you to ask you something really important
.

As you know, I am getting married next year (no date set yet) and I would like to know if you would do the honor of catering for my wedding.

I am not quite sure what I would want to serve but if you were to accept, I would like to know what you recommend.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I would say something about payment so it doesn't look like you are asking for it for free.  Other than that, I think it's good enough for a first email.

A quick note, I think you probably meant "do me the honor of catering for my wedding."

As for payment, you might try something like, "FI's NAME and I would be happy to pay you your customary rate."

[EDIT] Copy-paste fail on my part. Fixed it. [/EDIT]

I agree with pp. You should definitely mention paying for it...otherwise it sounds like your asking him to be the catering sponsor. Other than that it looks good.

I would definitely mention paying for it.

I've recently asked a lot of friends and relatives for things like these and I just simply say, "If you do decide to do this for us, please send me your standard pricing so I can fit it into my budget".

I think he would be relieved to know he doesn't have to do it for free lol.
