I recently looked at the Revolver & Athletic Club at the LAPD Academy (in Elysian Park) as a ceremony and reception venue. My dad is a cop and a member of LAPRAAC, which is how I found out about it. It has a great rock garden area, with plants and waterfalls, and a cool little dining hall. I'm pretty enamored with the price, and it's a funky and offbeat idea, but my concern is the amount of space. It seems relatively small, though their person in charge of events tells me they can seat up to 150 people for a reception (or even up to 170, though at that point the tables would be encroaching on the dance floor space).
When I looked at the venue, there weren't any tables set up, so it's been a little difficult for me to envision how the 150 people (which may well be the size of my wedding) will fit into the space. I'm wondering if anyone here has been to an event at this facility and can give me an idea of how the space worked out (i.e. if it was a big event, was it cramped and uncomfortable?)
Any other observations and comments about LAPRAAC would be great, too, as I haven't been able to find any reviews.
Thank you!
