Young, in love and broke!! Need affordable wedding recs!!

Hi all you KNOTTIES,

I need affordale recommendations for a florist, baker, musicians for my studio city, CA wedding next May 2011. I just met with a florist tha I loved but she was a bit pricey. My budget is round 1200 total and she quoted me at 1595 not including the personal flowers!!

I'm doing really simple arrangements with green apples and pink, white and green flowers. No particular flower needed but want to get the coloration right. Can you help!?!?!

I hear you. To be honest, that flower quote sounds pretty reasonable.  I got three quotes that ranged from $1700-$3000.  My florist was not the cheapest one, but I felt she would do the best work....Bride and Bloom Flowers.  For me decor and flowers were a top priority.

You may be able to save money in other areas like invitations, cake, food, etc and then you can spend the extra money on your top priorities.

I would recommend both my florist and baker.

Enchanted Florist in Burbank. The owner is Kim and she is the best!

Big Sugar Bakeshop in Studio City

    Good luck! :)

Have you thought about non floral centerpieces? That could save a LOT of money.

Visit the Downtown Los Angeles Flower Disctrict. If your arrangements are simple, you can do them youself or get a crafty friend to do it. Visit Moskatels for anything you need to help create arrangements:

    738 Wall Street
    Los Angeles, CA 90014-2316
    (213) 689-4830

As for the baker - who's doing your catering? Would they include a cake for a small fee or even free? Ours came free with catering and we had our florist decorate it with left over flowers from the arrangements.

Musicians? Post an ad on Craigslist. State your budget (how much you're willing to spend for a band) and you should get a good response.

You could try Bella Blooms out of Orange County, they've done some amazing stuff and they're pretty reasonable!

I did think about non floral centerpieces but since we are having a daytime wedding we can't really use candles and I didn't really have any other ideas unfortunately. Anyone have ideas??

I will definitely look up blossom florals and enchanted florals. Thanks!!

You mentioned that you want green apples with pink, white and green flowers. Instead of the flowers have you thought of doing an all fruit or vegetable center piece? Or instead of flowers using inexpensive greenery? A nonfloral center piece does not just have to be candles but if you have your heart set on flowers in the center pieces just use a few in the colors you want and have the majority of the center piece be made up of things other than flowers

I may have someone that can help you with your flower dilemma. How many centerpieces, bouquets, altar pieces, etc. do you need? I've got a great designer in mind that is moving down here from Northern California in September that may be able to help you out.

Get some family together go to the flowermart and DIY. My cousin recently had a very nice classy wedding for about 15,000 and spent $300 on all the flowers
