Ideas for budget wedding venue...

My fiance and I are paying for our wedding.

Here are our requirements:
  • intimate early evening ceremony, evening reception. Lots of candlelight, etc.
  • dance floor
  • 50-75 guests
Our budget is $10,000 for everything.

Any ideas in the Los Angeles area would be incredibly helpful!! Thanks!!!!!

$10,000 for venue/food or for EVERYTHING- like photographer, florist, dress, etc? just so we have an idea of what to suggest. :) also, do you have a preference of friday or saturday? usually friday nights are cheaper than saturdays.

I like the South Coast Botanic garden in Palos Verdes. There's a garden space for a ceremony and they have an event space too for the reception.

    Good luck!

You are in the same exact boat that I was. Honestly, you need to get creative. I found that all of the typical wedding venues would have sky rocketed me over my budget with the rental fees and alcohol costs. So I started thinking outside the box. For instance, my mom's friend offered us her clubhouse for our reception which meant that it was free and it allowed us to bring in all of our own vendors and alcohol. Not my "dream space" but with our $10K budget (for everything!), I was extremely grateful for her generosity. It was in a beautiful area of Palos Verdes/Rolling Hills estates overlooking the cliffs. Good luck and let me know if you have questions!

We were under the same budget you were, and managed to do it by renting a beach house in Dana Point and having both the ceremony/reception on the beach that was part of the house's private property.  We had just a little over 100 guests and brought in a dance floor.  The key to saving money (but also the most work) was finding a venue where we could bring in our own caterers, florists, party rentals, etc.  That way you're able to negotiate each end instead of being forced to use the venues preferred vendors.  I know there are some private residences in the Palos Verdes area that are sometimes rented out for weddings.

We had our wedding on a Sunday, and it saved us over $7,000 just on the venue space alone

    Hello...

Our budget is actually less than yours, but we found the best place for us is The Bungalow Club in Los Angeles.  They offered us food, open bar for 3 hours, linens and candles, and able to have the ceremony and reception at the same place for a VERY reasonable price.  Our wedding is approximately 100 guests, so the fact this place offered almost everything for under $7500 is amazing to me-especially in LA.

angela.quarry, thanks for posting that about the bungalow club!

I was considering that venue, but since I'm so very, very far away from an actual wedding I didn't want to email them for a quote just yet. So, thanks for answering the question I never asked, haha

I want to add the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts -- It used to be a small library and now hosts arts exhibits and rents out for private parties. Extremely affordable and when you're on a tight budget like we are, offsite catering makes all the difference.
