Reception Help!

I need some reception help. We are planning to use the caterer at our temple and one of the temple's banquet rooms; but in all honesty, I have not been happy with the lack of communication and sort of attitude since we are not having a huge wedding. I have contacted a few places (just to see what is out there). I found a restaurant that we could have the reception at (using a private room). What are your thoughts on it? Somehow, I think some of the feeling may be lost in using a restaurant; but at least the restaurant has good food and the room itself would need little decoration because it already looks great! Plus their communication has been excellent.

If you don't like the service you're getting now it will more than likely be a problem when it comes time for your reception.  I have never been to a reception at a restaurant before so I don't know what that would be like.  Would you still be able to have a dance floor?  Do you even care about a dancing area?  Would it be more expensive considering in the cost of alcohol?

Good questions! Yes, there is room to dance and price wise, it is about the same (even with the alcohol). I just wasn't sure how people thought about going into a restaurant that is open to the public, even though we'd be in a private room. I also agree that if the service already is questionable, am I going to get grief on our wedding day?

I have been to a couple restaurant weddings and like it because the food is usually a million times better!
