Envelopes

I was planning on making my own invites, but I came across a DIY kit at Michael's that I couldn't put down. Each box came with 40 invitations, envelopes, and response cards. Now I'm starting to wonder, with no inner envelope, where do we write kids names?

Are you going very formal then I am assuming. I would guess you would be against "& family". Could you do "The Smith Family"? Or maybe just put Mr. & Mrs. on the envelope and maybe on the response card make it so they see there are multiple seats available for their kids? Like on mine I put "# seats have been reserved for you" so they know how many people they can bring - i would think they would get the idea they can bring their kids from that.

Just a thought... You could always use the envelope that came with the set as the inner envelope and then go to Archivers or somewhere like that and purchase outer envelopes.

We are doing pocket invites, so there is no inner envelope. I read somewhere that you can write the children's names on the outside envelope, you just need to put them each on a seperate line. So it would be something to the effect of:Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Smith   Elizabeth   Ronald123 Main StreetCleveland, OH Good luck!

agree with labellefemme. put the children's name on the second line. i would avoid using the phrase "and family," because some people may not know exactly how to read that. and when it comes to this kind of thing, you want guests to know who's invited and who's not. lauren also had a good idea about purchasing outer envelopes. i'd only do that though if you want to. you wouldn't NEED to.

I got one of the Brides kits from Michaels (love them!!!) and I am using the envelope that came with the kit as an inner envelope, and ordered outer envelopes from Amazon. They should be in any day! Which kit did you fall in love with?We went this route instead of putting an "and family" after a LOT of confusion over a cousin who didn't use an inner envelope. Without every name spelled out, we weren't sure if she meant parents and children still living at home (and if those not living at home any longer got a separate invite). It turned out that sister's longtime boyfriend and my FI were invited, but I certainly wouldn't assume that under "and family"I've been told the post office frowns on putting lots of names on the envelope...but if it still gets there...who cares?~Gretchen
