Marriage License

Hello, 

I don't come on here a lot so sorry if this has been asked recently. 

Has anyone gone to the Norwalk office to get their license on the 3rd Thursday of the month when they close at 7pm? 

My fiance has a hard time getting off work so I was hoping we could go on that day. 

We work in the South Bay so I'm assuming it will take an hour to get there. 

So if we get there by 6, 6:30 the latest will we be able to be helped? Do they turn people away once 7 hits even if you're in line already? 

The same thing for the regular hours if we go in a hour before they close will they still help us if we're in line but it's 5pm?

    I know in Van Nuys if you're there after a certain time period (like 2 hours before they close) it won't be ready for you to pick up until the next day. Also, as a government office, I'm assuming they would, in fact, kick you out at 7.

    We were able to have our officiant get our license, though.

    How did you get your officiant to get it for you?  I am looking for anyway to avoid those lines!

    Thanks I did try calling but no one picked up. Well I guess my fiance is going to have to suck it up and we're going to go early. I would hate to be kicked out after waiting.

    I went to the Norwalk office last week and there was literally 3 people in line before me and we were able to leave with our paperwork easily.

    I definitely suggest to register online first, they'll keep it on file so when you arrive, you don't have to use their kiosks.

    We used Steve Kehela, who is basically Chris's assistant. Either Chris or Steve can do it. It's like magic. I know most people here have had to get their own, but I didn't ask questions. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-tongue-out.gif" border="0" alt="Tongue out" title="Tongue out" /> I hope I'm really married. The state sent us the marriage certificate afterward, so I assume we are. Unfortunately if you're using a clergy member or friend, you're probably on your own.

    Sorry--we didn't go to Norwalk so I can't help there. But since we didn't know a fee was required to get our marriage certificate, I had to call to follow up. I think I ended up having to call Norwalk and they did answer.
    Also ... if it comes down to it...we had planned to get our license in December for our January wedding, but the day we had off together it didn't work out. So we got ours the Thursday before and it worked out fine. =)
