Pasadena area reception halls?

Hi!!
Can anyone suggest some good reception halls in or around Pasadena?  We're getting married at the San Gabriel Mission and I fear for the out of town guests driving long distances in LA.  I mean, they wouldn't seem long to me but when you don't live there... Anyways, I love Pasadena but I always just went there to hang out not with the idea of having a party.  So if anyone has any ideas, that would be awesome.  We're getting married in early October 2011, so there's no rush, but I like have to things taken care of.  They'll probably be around 150-200 people once the moms have stopped arguing about the guest list.  Thanks!!

We are getting married at The Athenaeum in Pasadena, at Caltech. You have to be a member or sponsored by a member, but it's a wonderful location.

When we were looking for venues in Pasadena, we looked at some of the hotels (Hilton and Westin) as well as some of the estates on Millionaire's Row. A lot rent out their space- I forget all of them, but the Ambassador Campus, Red Cross headquarters building, and more.

    P. S. Are you from NC? We moved to Pasadena 3 years ago, from Raleigh!

Wow, I was just looking at the pictures of The Athenaeum, its beautiful!! I'll have to check out the other ones, I didn't even think of Millionaire's Row.

I grew up in Temple City (right next to Pasadena) and met my FI in Chapel Hill in grad school.  I never thought I would love some place as much as LA but the Triangle is wonderful.

I attended a wedding at the Hilton in Pasadena. The reception was incredibly beautiful! The wedding coordinator's name is Gloria (I think) and she was extremely friendly and accommodating. I can only imagine how pricey the Hilton is but I'm thinking you and your guests won't be disappointed! G'luck with wedding planning!

I'm getting married at the San Gabriel Mission this November, so I know how hard it is to find a venue that works near the mission.

The only hotel that we looked at in Pasadena was the Sheraton and the reason why we didn't go with it is your guests have to pay for parking and they have 2 rooms that they split you into.  One is for cocktail hour, and eventually dancing and cake cutting and in the middle for your dinner they put you in a ballroom next door just to eat. I thought making people move so much was weird.

That being said I would check the Hilton in Pasadena and the Westin.  And if you want an outdoor reception there is The Pasadena Museum of History it is gorgeous and one of my contendors but I didn't want to chance rain in November.

If you want to venture farther than Pasadena I am having my reception at the La Canada Country Club it is amazing with an incredible view and everything is pretty much included in their packages so you don't really have to do anything other than pick the food and cake and linen choices and your done.

Also if you want to try you can check out the San Gabriel Country Club you have to have a member sponsor you but it is gorgeous and who knows your family in Temple City may know someone who is a member.  GL!

Kelly- That's funny, a little reversal from our situation!

I went to UNC for undergrad, and so did FI (we were HS sweethearts). We absolutely love Chapel Hill. We grew up in Raleigh, but would rather move back to CH someday, and go back and visit as much as we can. I think it's beautiful out here, but really beautiful there in a different way. Of course, it's "home". What did you study while you were there?

The reason we moved out to CA is that FI is now a grad student at Caltech. He finishes his PhD in a year, and we hope to move back to NC eventually- FI's dream job would be as a professor there.

Yay for a fellow Tar Heel!

The Pasadena Masonic Temple is gorgeous and I hear is very affordable. I believe the Athenaeum is an $18,000 minimum to have your event there.

We are getting married at The Athenaeum on a Friday, so there is actually no minimum! It's the only way we could afford it.  But I know it's not the most practical venue since you have to be a member. Just wanted to throw it out there since it's where we are having our Pasadena reception.

I second the Masonic Temple and also would check out the nearby Pasadena Convention Center (the PCC has an entry on here comes the guide that you can check out)
