LA Alterations

Hello Ladies,

I bought my dress from Glamour Closet, and now as the wedding is approaching - I need to get it altered.  Does anyone have any good recommendations for a alteration person in the LA area?
Can you please also tell me how long it typically takes?
And, average price?  I know it depends on type of dress and alterations needed, but just to get a range plese.

I think I will need my dress taken in a bit around the waist and bust.  I am hoping to avoid shortening the dress, but we'll see depending on my shoes.
Thank you!!!!

I went to Reene  (was recommended to me by this board) and she was amazing.  She took a week to shorten my hem, bustle, take in the bodice (there was a ton of boning so it was labor intensive), added cups to the bust, and made my drop veil.  All that came to about $350, I think.  It was somewhere in that neighborhood.  I also brought along my jewelry and she helped me pick out what earrings I should wear.  She's located in Woodland Hills but it's worth the drive.

Reene is a knottie fav her name gets thrown around here so much!

Sorry but I can't help with all the details since I will be meeting her on July 17th and she'll tell me all the details pricing etc...but she does have awesome reviews and if you are willing to drive everyone says she's totally worth it !

I also am using Reene, and her pricing is great. I didn't need much done to my dress. She took up the hem a little, changed my neckline to sweetheart, and sewed my corset down so that it won't show with my dress. That, plus steaming the dress comes out to just under $100!

Not only that, but she is totally honest with you. She'll tell you exactly what kind of foundation garments you need, what height shoes, what kind of jewelry or veil, etc. I heard from other people that she even told them, "I can alter it for $__ or you can lose 5 pounds". I like someone who tells it like it is!

I pick it up in a week...woo hoo!

If you live far away from woodland hills  like i did, i would highly recommend seeng Mina..http://minadesignandtailoring.com/

she works out of her house in beverly hills and is amazingly talented. She was able to transform my dress to fit my like a glove. She is also really affordable and just all around a great lady. I really cant recommend her enough. I considered going to renee, but the thought of driving to woodland hills 3+ times from santa monica was enough to make me keep looking and im so glad i did and found mina!

I also bought my dress at Glamour Closet.  The seamstress that worked on my dress is Galina Borin of Elegant Mode Tailoring(in your packet from Glamor closet).  She took it in from a size 10 to a 2. I tried Rene also at first but I didn't quite click with her, personality thing.

    Hi brides!

I went to Patty Sanchez.  She's located in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles. She's amazing ladies!!!  The great thing about her is that she used to own a bridal shop called Monaco Couture in Los Angeles (www.projectwedding.com/vendor/show/monaco-couture-mni-bridal-inc), but she had to close it because of the state of the economy.  Anyways, she used to design and sew all the dresses, so she's not only a great seamstress, she's a great designer too.  Her prices are extremely reasonable and she's incredibly easy to work with.  She works from home, so she's able to keep her prices low, but of course the quality and talent stays the same :-)

Also, if you want a custom-design wedding dress or bridesmaids dresses, she's your lady :-)

    Here's her contact info:

    (213) 210-9835
    castillo0808@yahoo.com

Tell her Rica recommended you.  Good luck!
