Photography package advice

Hi ladies,

My fiance and I had a meeting with Sabel Studios (www.sabelstudio.com) yesterday to discuss their wedding photography rates.  I wanted to get your take on it, since most of you have reserved your photographers or know about the rates.  This is what is included in the $1500 package:

6 hrs coverage
professional print package ($200 value on museum quality paper)
digital high res. images on a DVD (basic touch ups included, if necessary)
Turnaround time is 25 days max
Online viewing
Ability for others to upload their images from the wedding to the site
Personal web-site
Online photo hosting for 6 months
(also if something happens and the photographer can't make it, there is a back-up professional photographer who can shoot the wedding)

What do you guys think?  Please give me your honest opinion.  Thanks!!!!

I think the price sounds good.  Are you getting one or two photographers?  Also, did you ask if they've worked at your venue before?  Sometimes it's nice to have a photographer that's familiar with your venue.

It's one photographer only.  I will make sure to ask.  Thanks!

I got a similar deal with momento-studio.com.  I had two photographers for 8 hours of unlimited shoots.  It also included an engagement session.  If you like doing things yourself I would suggest you get digital copies and make your own flush mount book for a fraction of the price at bayphoto.com.  Hope this helps.  I pulled my outdoor wedding together for well under 10k by doing a lot on my own

Have you received your photos?  If so, can you share a few so I can see what they look like (quality, craftsmanship, etc.).

Thanks for the link.  I will definitely check it out.

That seems like a pretty good deal.  Looking for a photographer is turning into a nightmare!  I'm weary of these companies.  If all they shoot are weddings, I wonder what else they do.  That's what I've been using as a barometer because a lot of these guys seem the same.

I met with a photographer, Adam Taylor on Sat.  He shoots a lot of movies & tv shows and it was interesting talking about his work.  His site is- adamtaylorweddings.us  What do you think?

My photo budget is also around 1500.  He charges 1950 for 8 hours.  Hiring a photographer is tough!  Who else have you talked to?
