marriage license questions

Two questions for all of you about marriage licenses: 1) do I have to get it a certain number of days before the wedding (I really hope not!) and 2) do I have to get it from the same county in which I'm getting married?

TIA!

You do not need to get from the same county you're getting married at, it is advised though.  In California you are to get your marriage license no sooner than 90 days prior to the wedding. And its 70 dlls. make sure you take cash or check. No credit card.

No prob! Just applied for mine online yesterday. Gotta pick it up still, but they give you about 3 weeks to pick it up. But I do like how they allow you to apply online now so you're not sitting there filling out some paperwork. Hopefully we won't be waiting too long when we pick it up.

OH and don't forget, because of furloughs, most city and county buildings are closed on Fridays!

Kyumsterpoo, you still have to fill it out when you get there.  At least, I did in Ventura County. But it doesn't take long.  Whole process is about 5 minutes.

Very important note....make sure you do not get ANYTHING on your license!  They will reject it and make you apply for a new one and then you'll have to get it signed all over again.  We had a huge hastle with ours over a water droplet that didn't even smudge the ink, it just wrinkled the paper.
