Dress Drama--Majorly Bummed but I'll be okay

So last week I got my dress completely fitted.  I immediately took it to the cleaners recommended to me by my seamstress, and it took them an entire week to figure out they couldn't clean my dress.  While they did give me a full refund with no questions asked, I was still very pissed. My point blank question was "It took you 6 days to figure out you couldn't clean my dress.  What would you have done if my weddding would have been tomorrow?!"  While they were adequately apologetic with regards to the money, they could not refund the time that I wasted by putting my trust in them.

Seriously,  I know in another thread I emphasized the importance of getting stuff done early so a bride can deal with the last minute bs that gets thrown her way--after 8 solid months of alterations and trying to get it in early I didn't expect the dress to be one of the last minute fires to put out.

I am going to have to drive to San Diego tomorrow to drop the dress off at the most reputable dry cleaner that specializes in wedding dresses.  It's going to cost a sh*tload of money that I could have done better things with, but at this point in the game there is nothing I can do about it except get it cleaned and getting it done right.

Just pissed off that things have gone awry.

Aw man, that sucks.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I hope the dry cleaners in SD are more help.  Let us know how it goes.

That is a major pain......I have never heard of a dry cleaner that can't clean a dress....strange.

Basically they said that if they put my dress in their dry cleaning machine, the beads would melt.  I had a very long, involved discussion with them on the phone.

But here's what the gist of it was:

Cleaners: "Those beads on your dress cannot be cleaned--they will melt if we put them in the machine. Who was genius who put them on?"

Me: "That would be Reem Acra, sir.  I'm sure if you call her up in New York she'd be happy to discuss the quality of her beadwork versus the quality of your workmanship--or lack thereof. Maybe, being a clothing designer, she'll be more understanding as to why it took you 6 days to figure out you couldn't clean my dress."

What really pissed me off the most was that the beadwork doesn't even need cleaning.  The dress has a couple of spots here and there because it was a floor sample,  it's not majorly soiled by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn't have purchased it if that would have been the case.
