You can try The Betty Reckas Cultural Center in Long Beach.  Their rental fee is is about a quarter of your budget, but they let you bring in your own alcohol as long as you pay a certain amount per person for the mixers.  You can also look for a nice park with a banquet hall (or room).  Some cities allow you to bring in alcohol so long as you book far enough in advance and get an alcohol permit.  Good luck!

Why not check a local restaurant? A few people recommended Cheesecake Factory in Marina Del Rey to me (but we had too many people). If you're in the SCV, you could check Le Chene..not sure what their prices are like, but it's an option. If you do brunch instead of dinner, it's another way of keeping closts low.

    Good luck & congrats!!

Cabrillo Marina Plaza in San Pedro.  Much prettier in person!

We're having ours at the LA River Center & Gardens and you do have to bring in all your own alcohol, caterers, tables, etc. Just a word of advice. Sometimes that's not always a the cheaper way. The venue itself was only $3000 to rent for 12 hours for both ceremony and reception. But having to bring in your own tables, chairs, glassware, silverware, table cloths, etc. does add up. HTH!

We got married at the los angeles river and garden center, it is an awesome place to have an outdoor wedding , you owe it to yourself to check it out....it will be under $5000, they charge depending on how many guests you will have.
    Good Luck,

We're getting married in the Penthouse Ballroom of the Pacific Electric Lofts Building. It's an urban loft space with Chicago-style architecture inside. We got it for well under $5000, and we are allowed to bring in any caterers and vendors.
