Honestly, the cake.  It wasn't anything extraordinary but DH parents neighbor made our cake.  She's been making his family cakes since he was two and it was her wedding gift to us.  We love her cakes and look forward to going home for Christmas to have some!

Colors a deep sea blue, dark brown, cream. Theme is chemistry-inspired since fiance is a chemist and the wedding is at Caltech. Not TOO much chemistry overload planned, but the vases for centerpieces will be beakers and flasks, and the escort cards will be inside tiny test tubes. Vintage chemistry textbooks around.Tables names will be elements from the periodic table. Stuff like that.

How many people are you inviting:
I sent out 90 invitations....so at least 180 people, but some invitations were for bigger families, so not sure what the exact count is. Our families are from the east coast, though, so we expect closer to 100 to actually come. So far 55 people have RSVP-ed yes, but we still have 3 weeks till the due date.

Location:
The Athenaeum at Caltech in Pasadena. It's the faculty club/country club thing on campus (since no one has ever heard of it!). It's a beautiful venue. We'll do ceremony on the steps outside, cocktail hour indoors, and dinner/dancing on the terrace outside. It's very vintage/old academic style. Albert Einstein used to stay there when he visisted Caltech!

Is there something that you're really looking forward to on your wedding day (besides getting married!):
Seeing so many of my friends and family from the east coast! I still see many of them when I go back to visit, but I can't wait for them to see where I've been living for the past 3 years. Also eating our cake, yummm.
