Glidden House

Is anyone here getting married, or got married at Glidden House? I'm mostly curious about decor. Thanks!

Re: Glidden House

I've only heard this through someone who was a bridesmaid at wedding that was at Glidden House. But she said they were really strict on who got served alcohol and that the manager pulled the DJ cords out to make an announcement about it.Like I said, I wasn't there, but I would ask them about their alcohol policy.

I also do not know much about having a wedding at the Glidden House, but have had fmaily members stay there several times and they love it. We looked into the Glidden House during our venue search and they were way beyond our budget (lots of $$$ just for the venue then you have to hire caterer etc). We were also not thrilled that our reception would have to be outdoors under a tent---no inside options.

Ohhh~! I'm so glad you ladies posted this - as I'm meeting with TOE tomorrow and they had mentioned this space as a possibility for me.  Hell no I'm not having a tent wedding in February!   I'll get info regardless though and let you know what they have to say about it! Yes, it is pricey, I was quoted between $2,500 - $3,500 just for the space.  Yikes!  That's why I say what's another grand at that point, and am going to book the old court house! Thanks for the advice - I'll post the scoop tomorrow for ya!

I might be wrong, but I think that Glidden House could only accomodate an indoor wedding if it was a very small reception. Any reception with a more average size guest list 50+ would have to be outdoors I believe. Guess that won't work for February! Also I am not exactly sure what you are looking for, but thought I would suggest my wedding location for your wedding location :) We are having our ceremony and reception at Manakiki Golf Course in Willoughby Hills. They are catered by Sammy's and would be perfect for a winter wedding! http://www.sammys.com/manakiki.shtml Good luck!

I'm not a big fan of Glidden weddings, either. When I was last there for one (2002 I believe, maybe 03?), the inside decor was a bit dated. . . pretty, but dated. AND very cramped. I'd say check it out, but if you're not willing to go outside with a larger guest list, then it might not be for you. :)

I had a friend have everyone stay there for her wedding, but she didn't have the reception there.  It was a great place to do hair, makeup, etc.  If you're looking for a place in that area, you could also consider the botanical gardens or crawford auto museum... they both do weddings.  Also, my friend that had everyone stay at the Glidden House did hers at the Rockefeller Building in Cleveland Heights and I'm pretty sure TOE was the caterer.  It was in December and it was beautiful.  They have marble staircases, great woodwork, and a fireplace.  It was great for a winter wedding!  Just something to consider that may be a little more budget friendly. :)

I'm getting married there in October. I totally agree it's not right for a winter wedding, and it's actually not right for most people, but 100% of our guests are flying in from out of town (I don't live in Cleveland, it's a long story why we're getting married there), so it's a nice solution to be able to feel like we're hosting people for a weekend in our "home." But I'm totally perplexed on how to make the tent area look festive, but in theme with the very traditional look of Glidden House, without having to expand my budget so significantly to include fabric draping, etc. Any thoughts on ways to make tent weddings look less... industrial? The metal bars are really the only thing that I see as a bit of an issue. Thanks!!

cwheels82 - you said glidden house was a nice place to get ready....did everyone get ready in one of the bedrooms or is there a separate area for that?I'm getting married at Holy Rosary in Little Italy and there is no bridal suite so I'm trying to find a place nearby where I can get ready with my bridesmaids.

The suites are gorgeous! I would think the rooms, if you have more than one or two bridemaids, are a bit small to get ready in.

Sorry.... didn't check back right away!  My friend had two adjoining rooms.  She also only had 3 bridesmaids.  I did all the makeup for everyone and it was a little cramped, but between the two rooms we were fine.  You could also try the alumni house if you're a Case alum or La Barberia if you want a pedicure or anything.  La Barberia has a nice upstairs area for spa stuff and if you get a couple of things there they may let you use it.  Its at least worth asking about since it is so close!

Just a comment about the botanical gardens. . . I think it's one of the prettiest sites I've ever been to for a wedding. . . but imho, you pay a hefty price tag for that. :)

I am getting married there next August. I fell in love with it the moment I walked in. It was everything I was looking for. It is a bit pricey and we have TOE catering us (which tastes amazing!!!) so I can understand the budget issues. Leary is in charge of the special occasions there and he is so helpful and kind. He has recommended alot of vendors and ideas within our budget. In fact, he help us find a church (St. Paul's Shrine) in the area since we are from out of town. Hopefully, August will remain historically dry. If not, the tent is enclosed and is attached to the inside....being from Cleveland I will not take any chances...I know better. There are so many guests that are from out of town so Glidden House, with it's beautiful decor, works for us.
