waxing....ouch!

Since we are going to the Carribean for our honeymoon I thought it only necessary to get a bikini wax!  I have gone before but only a couple times.  Can you ladies give me some advice on when to go prior to wedding and how to care for my skin after (I have sensitive skin so prone to those bumps!)

Don't know where you're located, but I LOVE Heather Nelson at Frenchy's Beauty Parlor in Burbank.  She's super fast and efficient, and it's over before you know it.  I recommend a wax...you don't want to worry about shaving up there on your honeymoon.  I have sensitive skin too, which is why I wax (shaving?  Ouch!), and I'm going two days before my wedding, then two days before my honeymoon, which will be later in the summer. Two days is enough time for my skin to cool and any redness to disappear, and when the hair does grow back, it will be nice and smooth, much finer than you're used to (at least for me : ).

Your aesthetician should put a cooling gel/lotion on, and she should also be able to recommend something to take with you.  I usually just have a day of redness/slight tenderness, then I'm good!  Remember you need to be extra careful for the first few days after in the sun - your skin is much more vulnerable.

I decided to surprise dh and got my very first bikini wax (usually shave) 3 days before the wedding. We were going to Maui 2 days later...
It was a little painful, but honestly not terrible. I went to Butterfly Loft & Spa in Encino and the woman was really wonderful. She uses special medical grade wax and has a salve that helped with the redness. I have somewhat sensitive skin as well and after 2 days there was NO redness.
