Latino/Top 40 DJ in NYC... and a conguero

Hello!

We're having our reception in Queens/Long Island area and need a good DJ. We are both latino (south american & carribean) so we want a DJ that'll cater to our americanized side with some hip hop and dance, AND play the right merengue and salsa. Not interested in a DJ that plays american and throws in played out Suavemente. And while I enjoy shakin' it to Pitbull and JLO, that's not "latin" music to our family.

I also thought it might be fun to throw in a conga player since a band is not in the budget, so let me know if you know anyone.

This is tough!

Thanks in advance!

Try posting this on your local board, they are more likely to know what is in your area.  Good Luck!

    Hello,
Another bride recommended a DJ company in NY called "Ultimate Sound DJs"

When you go on their site, click on the profiles tab on the main menu. You can view the videos of each DJ to get a feel of how they perform.

OHH!!  I am using Latin Brothers Entertainment!  Several of my friends recommended them to me and they are very affordable ( I am payinga little over $1,000 for a dj and MC plus basic lighting).  They can probably help you with a conguero, too.

  • Congrats on offically being married!

    How was MME?

I'm also looking for a Latin DJ that will fuse hip-hop with salsa and merengue.
  • Hey all! Thanks- I found a DJ referred by a colleague. He is not latino, but he caters to diverse crowds. He met up with us before contract and we knew quickly that without being latino, he still speaks the language of music! Hip hop, old school, salsa merengue, reggae, soca, bachata cumbia- you name it, it is on the list. Very professional and still reasonable.

Good MC too- that was a concern. I met people that played good music but would horrify me if they spoke at my reception.

Our day is 6/30... I can't wait to PARTY, PARTY PARTY!!!
