Just Engaged....Very Unique Ring

Hello Everyone,
I am newly engaged to my love of almost 8 years.  We have always planned on getting married but hit a few bumps in the road, 3 years of long distance, an unplanned pregnancy and raising a beautiful little girl.  Because of this getting married has always been on the back burner for us.  Since our lives have finally started slowing down we really started talking about getting married and yesterday he surprised me with a beautiful custom ring.  It's unique and special to us, not a diamond, but a unique form of smithsonite that is ONLY found in the mountains of the area in which we live and fell in love.  I am so proud of the ring and the story it holds, the gem itself is more rare than diamonds and it's meaning for me is priceless.

    Oh yes my ring is one of a kind.  Smithsonite in jewelry grade quality is extremely rare.  Another plus for us is that we were able to spend money within our community (we are from a rural community) and keeping our money within the community whenever we can is very important to us (as we have seen various small businesses shut down due to the economy).

    Yes!  I love non-diamond rings as well, I think it's funny that diamonds have become "normal" when (from what I have read) they were not popular in engagment rings until a clever marketing campaign.  I have always loved seeing pearl rings, and rings with color, so much more interesting to me.

    I'm not going to lie, usually whenever puts "very unique ring" in the title, I'm expecting to find something that's not really that unique ... but yours is, and I absolutely LOVE it (The stones are my favoritest color evarrrrrrrr, lol). Congratulations!

    Gorgeous ring. I like rings that are unique to the couple. Although diamonds are pretty, I prefer a stone that is not a diamond.
