Just Engaged and Proposals

One Honored Bride-To-Be... With a little drama.

One week ago today my fiance, who at the time was my boyfriend for nearly five years, proposed to me at our nephew's 2nd birthday party. We went there, of course, for the party and it was a day just like any other. About an hour or two into the party, his mother asked me for my phone. My phone is on her AT&T plan, so I thought nothing of it; but my phone was dead. She then asked me, "What is your parent's phone number, I need to talk to them about something." Then she said "Don't ask any questions." I, being the curious woman I am, did give her the phone number but proceeded to ask questions anyway. None of them were answered, of course, and his mother went off somewhere. I didn't think anything of it and started to browse around my facebook. Between the time she ran off and the time his mother told me to get my butt off of facebook, her and my now fiance snuck onto the porch. I obeyed and went outside, thinking it was time to eat or something. I walked out to see him standing there, taking off his hat and handing it to one of our friends. He began to speak; "Ashley, we have been together for a long time. We have had a lot of hard times, but a lot of good times too. We have struggled and we have worked hard... and all of it has been worth it." He got down on one knee and said "I love you... Will you marry me?" By this time, I was in tears with the shock of a lifetime. I told him yes and he put the ring, his grandmother's ring, on my finger and I hugged him tight, crying in his arms. After that, I began to hear his sister's voice. It was foggy to me at the time, but she had begun to throw one of her world famous bitch fits. She went on about how we had ruined our nephew's birthday and made it into our engagement party... and it just went on from there... Needless to say, she tried to ruin our memories and failed. After dinner we went home. Five days later, feeling really bad about the whole thing and wanting to help us celebrate; his mother, father, aunt and uncle took us out to have some fun. When we were at Peter Piper Pizza his aunt pulled me aside and asked me if I would like to wear her wedding dress. She had no daughters and had no one to pass her wedding dress on to. My mother was a really skinny woman... and I could never fit into her dress without becoming anorexic... Not only that, but I was honored and in tears. I said yes... So I am one very honored bride to be... A ring from his grandmother, a dress from his aunt, and the best man in the world that I could have ever asked for. It's a dream come true. Now I'm planning, with his help, the wedding of our dreams.
