Going about it backwards

At this point I am refusing to hire a coordinator because, well, I don't want to spend $$$$ just for help finding a wedding venue. I'm going crazy trying to find one or separate ceremony and reception. Do you think it's a bad idea to contact photographers first and hope that they have venue suggestions? Do you think that a photographer would give venue suggestions?

The first question a photographer will want answered is when is your wedding and where are you having it.  Plus, some venues will only allow certain vendors in - not sure if this extends to photographers or just caterers/florists/etc.  What are you looking for?  What is your price range?  Maybe we can help.Jennifer

I'm looking for an outdoor ceremony with Red Dogwood trees, hopefully on the east side. I don't care of the ceremony and the reception are in the same place but I do not want the reception to be in a cookie cutter ballroom. I want vaulted ceilings or at least 12ft.. I don't want gross carpet, some neutral color. My price range is $12,000 total for 90 guests. So, I guess if everything is included in the reception hall like $5,000 for that and honestly, I'm so frustrated I'm willing to pay like $1,000 for a ceremony location.

Have you looked at Morley Music Hall on the Lake Erie College campus? It is a grand to rent for the day and is amazingly beautiful. There is no where there for reception though so you would have to else where.

Its not East Side but Check out Lake Forest CC in Hudson OH.  Their is an outdoor ceremony spot overlooking a lake, trees around (can'rt promise they are dogwoods) flowering gardens, etc. Then the Reception room(s) are very unique and beautiful - old mansion feel.  If interested in photos, feel free to email me at angela.wish@gmail.com. You definitely can do everything for 90 guests well within your budget (probably some $$ left over!)

I would check out Manakiki by sammy's. I think they will have most of what you are looking for and will definately fall into your budget.
