I am recently engaged (09-09-11) and I'm loving it! While doing the guest list was a little boring the rest of the planning has been really fun.
My fiance told me that his only goal was to surprise me for the proposal. He worked really hard at that. After five years of dating he knew I'm not easy to surprise. I have been working a lot lately and I happened to randomly have a Friday evening off work. He said we should go to dinner and I was game. In the car we went
While on our way to the restaurant he slowed down to go into the Vanderbilt Mansion. I looked at him and he said "I thought we could stop here before dinner." I should have caught on but I always ask to stop there so I figured he was just being really sweet. We parked and scored the only bench that overlooks the valley and Hudson river. We started chit chatting and then before I knew it he was down on one knee. I immediately freaked out and started saying "this is not happening...omg this is not happening" He finally had to say to me "honey, you haven't answered me" hahaha I of course said "yes!"
It was the best day of my life. I can't wait till we finally get married...it's going to be an amazing day
