On Halloween we were at school when my boyfriend told me that he was going to do a surprise for me that night. We have a thing where he gives me a surprise once a month, so it wasn’t so out of the ordinary. During our next class I saw him on his computer looking up recipes for mussels in a garlic wine sauce, so I was pretty stoked! I thought I had his surprise all figured out.
When we got home he told me I had to stay in the bedroom until he told me it was safe to come out. He came in and said he would be going to the store, and when he came back he told me it would be a little longer until I would get my surprise but to stay put until he told me, and maybe I should get dressed up a little while I was waiting. (Ps. I wasn’t feeling well that day and was kinda pissed because he usually wouldn’t plan something I had to dress up for knowing that. Hindsight is 20/20 LOL)
When I was finally told I could come out, he was dressed in his Halloween costume, a Knight, and he told me I would be going on a scavenger hunt. (I did complain that I wanted to eat first, but he said that I would want my surprise first, he was sure of it. I told him it wasn’t likely and I was super hungry, but fine, I’d do his scavenger hunt first. Once again, so blind to what was going on. 
) The clues led to chocolate bars, flowers, and took me all over the house. Finally, the last clue asked me to figure out what this was all leading to. I started crying and saying I didn’t want to know because I wasn’t ready. 
We’ve been dating 6.5 years and I thought I would be prepared and totally see it coming, but he caught me completely off guard. He said he had asked my mom, and something about wanting to be with me forever (I think I was blubbering incoherently by this point) and I said yes. It was super romantic, since he had given me a scavenger hunt to find the first present he ever bought me, and he actually surprised me! I never thought that would happen! I was so impressed and I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal!
