I know I'm a bit biased, but here's my proposal story! I know I'm a bit late in posting since we got in engaged in February 2010, but I've just been waiting to share it and finally discovered this board!
After dinner together on our 2 year anniversary, my fiance, Ben, had promised to watch a sappy romantic movie with me. As we settled down to watch it at his place, instead of the movie, he played an 18 minute video that he had worked on for the past year and made for our anniversary. Ben had rewritten the lyrics to "Hey, Soul Sister" and recorded the song, complete with all the instruments, by himself. As the song was playing in the background, my friends started appearing on the screen one by one, each with a whiteboard containing a handwritten message to me. They were all situated in surroundings familiar to me: my hometown, my school, our home and current church. Soon, the messages and people started changing as couples appeared on the screen, with their years together written on the whiteboard. His parents and my family appeared as well, and to my surprise, a shot of a Tiffany's box nestled in snow flashed across the screen. Soon, Ben appeared with a series of whiteboards on which he had written a haiku titled "Your Turn", ending with "will you marry me?" At that moment, Ben slid from his position next to me on the couch and knelt on the floor, silently holding the same ring box open.
