Just Engaged and Proposals

Is it completely insane to plan a wedding in 4 and a half months?!

I just got engaged a week and a half ago and I'm starting to plan my wedding. My fiancé lives 800 miles away, so I'm on my own and we want to be married rather quickly. I want my wedding simple and traditional. No more than 75 guests. Can I pull this off or am I just way in over my head?? Your advice is greatly appreciated :)

  • Its do-able! You'll just be stressed and overworked. I suggest hire a wedding planner.
He stole my heart, so I'm stealing his last name.
  • As long as you can find a venue in time, are a hyper-organized person and have an idea of what kind of wedding you want already in your head, you'll be fine. But ya, you might want to hire a wedding planner to help you.

We did it in 4 months.  I tried to not have a lot of DIY projects.  I also say as long as you can find your venue, you're okay.  We didn't get our #1 choice for reception, but where we had it was fine and we had other options open too.  We also had less than 100 guests.  It keeps the costs way down.  Also, I bought a sample dress.  My biggest regret though was not taking more time with the dress shopping.

</div><div>Agree!  I think it is do-able.  Priority #1 should be finding a venue.

  • I planned my wedding in about 3 months, we are planning it around my brothers leave from deployment. It has been crazy but def. possible, we are in our final month stretch now and I feel like everything has just fallen into place for usv and we are at 110 people for our wedding.

  • I've seen it done!  I honestly wish we had a shorter engagement, but it wasn't possible.  As long as you know exactly what you want you're fine, since there isn't a ton of time to sit and decide things.

  • I agree. Totally do-able. 'Minimize the DIY' is invaluable advice. Minimize the , uh 'fluff'. Sorry, but you don't have to do every single adorable thing you see on here. Remember that this site includes pretty much everything you can conceivably think of to include. That's why its so darn fun! Be reasonable. And don't be afraid. Just be open-minded. Like maybe a Friday is open when the Saturday is not. A planner would help immensely, if its in the budget. Choose a helpful bridal party. And as a photographer speaking here - get one as soon as you set the date. Please feel free to message me with advice on picking a good one for you. You can easily get tripped up on this because of the distance. An engagement session may not be possible, but it is still important that you and your photographer get to know each other to ensure good chemistry and good picutres on your day. It should be right up there with a venue if you like nice pictures.

Remeber to breathe. You'll do great:)
