I have been on The Knot for awhile now looking for ideas from the ever creative brides-to-be on here after my boyfriend of two years and I had discussed marriage. We had made the decision to get married last year but we didn't have a formal proposal or a ring since we are waiting until 2012 to get married. I referred to us as "unofficially engaged" which is a term I know some of the girls on here dislike but it just made the most since in our case.
So fast forward to New Years Eve around 9 o clock. We had a party at my house with all my friends and family around and someone came up with the idea to play charades. After a couple of people had gone my boyfriend got up and started acting out his charade. He got people to guess "Katie, will you...." and at this point, I was still clueless. I guess I was trying too hard to win the game and totally did not get the hint. He then got down on one knee, pulled out a gorgeous ring and asked "Katie, will you marry me?" My jaw dropped and I said "Are you serious?" Haha! I was so shocked. Then I said yes of course and everybody cheered. It was so perfect and special to be surrounded by our loved ones. My brother even secretly video taped the whole thing so we will always have our moment on tape. We got to ring in the new year as officially engaged!
I can't wait to marry my best friend. We're planning a May 2012 wedding.
