Engagement Party? Should we have one?

I was wondering how important it is to even have an engagement party. His family lives in New York and Virginia and mine in Florida where we are, so logistically it would be hard to do. We were planning no not even having one, is that ok or is it expected to have the party?

Not expected so if you don't want to have one, that's fine. If you do, make sure you're not hosting it.

  • You do not throw yourself an e-party. That is something that is given to you.

  • Its true you don't hold your own engagement party. However if you wanted to have a get together with your parents so that they get to know each other and their is no gift giving involved then its fine to host your own party. But you do not have to have one.

[QUOTE]Yes, don't have an engagement party unless someone offers you one. I'm at that point in my life where all of my friends and relatives are getting engaged and I've never been to an enagement party. However, I just got engaged about two weeks ago and my future in-laws immediately decided to host an engagement party for us. Now you can't say no to that!
