My FI and I have been together since April fool's day 2009, and we've always talked about settling down and marrying each other. About a month ago, we were laying on the couch and discussing prospective wedding dates. He brought up the idea of a repeating date (specifically, 11/11/11) and asked what I thought. Ater assuring him that I could not plan an entire wedding in under 3 months, he brought up the idea of 12/12/12 being our big day. At first, I was a bit hesitant because I'm young (19 next march) and the task still seemed daunting. But after a little coaxing, he got me to say yes!
So now I'm planning a wedding and happier than ever, but there's one thing missing...
my ring!
Like I mentioned before, my FI and I are both young. I'm 18, and he's 20.
He is not in the position to splurge on a nice engagement ring right now, and that's perfectly fine with me. We both understand where our relationship stands and where it's headed- it's just a little awkward to speak with vendors with no ring! Most people have been very polite when asking, but they still ask to see the ring or ask why I'm not wearing one, and our situation is a little too complex to explain over and over again.
Any advice on what to say when the questions come up?
