Just Engaged and Proposals

A scavenger hunt that ended in a proposal =)

I got engaged yesterday and I believe that my now fiance deserves a best proposal of the year award. Let me share why!

We have both been best friends for the past 2 years and finally decided to give being more than friends a shot. It didn't take us very long to decide that we were both what we were searching for. So we had set the date for our wedding to be August 6, 2011. The planning had already started because we knew that both of our families would need time to build up for the expenses of a wedding. Although we were already engaged to be married he hadn't made an official proposal yet with a ring.

Yesterday marked the official one year count down for our wedding. I didn't think we would be doing anything special that day so I was very surprised when he woke me up with a text to go outside to my car, and check for something he had left in it a few days prior. When I got to my car I saw an enveloped tucked in the door with the name "freckles" written in his handwriting. The letter read that he was sending me to get my hair done, and that he would be paying for it so do what ever I wanted with it. Excited I got to the salon and had my hair done.

As I was leaving the salon, the owner came out with a letter for me. This letter was titled tesoro, which means treasure in spanish. The letter instructed me to go to a store and pick up a dress that was waiting for me. Inside of the letter was the money for the dress. When I arrived at the store and received the dress, there was another letter attached to the dress! Titled "princess" spanish for princess, this letter told me to go to another store and pick up a pair of shoes that were already purchased.

At the shoe store another letter, named sweetheart in spanish, was presented to me by one of the shop girls, and it had a gift certificate to a spa. When I got the spa another letter was waiting for me with the instructions to put on the dress and shoes that I had picked up after I received my massage. I was also told to go to a harbor and look for a little store and to ask for one of the workers. After arriving at the harbor and finding the little shop. The store owner handed me another letter, with my name on it, that included a boarding pass for a dinner cruise.

As I arrived on the dinner cruise my boyfriend was already siting at a table waiting for me. We enjoyed a beautiful dinner and watched the sunset from the observation deck of the ship. At the end of it all we walked to our respective cars and he told me to wait because he had to show me a favor box design that he had found. When I opened the favor box, inside was a ring box. He got down on one knee and proposed. Each letter was named after a nickname that he calls me. All of the letters also gave a reason why he felt I was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
