Just Engaged and Proposals

Belvedere Castle, Central Park Engagement

My Fiance and I took a trip to NYC 3 weeks ago during my spring break (I am a teacher) and we were there for a week visiting the city and his sister.  He grew up in Long Island and his sister now lives in the city and it was my first time to NY.  We flew in March 14, Sunday night and there was a slight drizzle and it was freezing! (We live in Az so anything below 60 is pretty cold to me :) ) The next day, Monday we woke up early, had breakfast and were headed to the Museum of Natural History.  It was cloudy with a very misty drizzle and still cold.  As we were approaching the museum we noticed a lot of school busses and my soon-to-be Fiance suggested we go walk through Central Park since it was right across the street.  We proceeded into the park and kind of walked around aimlessly.  I was having a good time but was wondering why were just walking around in the wet cold weather and not really getting anywhere.  I told him that I really needed to use the restroom and he found a Park worker who directed him to the bathrooms.  After the restroom stop we seemed to finally be going somewhere with a purpose. ( I later found out that my Fiance was looking for Belvedere Tower/Castle and was lost and when he had asked the Park worker where the restrooms were he had also asked under his breath where the tower was) We finally made it to our destination and the view was amazing!  I was looking at the city from atop the tower and my Fiance said, "Well, I brought you here for a reason." At this point I still didnt know and I asked him, "Ok, what for?" and he quickly replied, "To take pictures." I said, "OK!" and when I turned around for him to take my picture he was on his knee with the ring box open!  Turns out after he told me he had brought me there for a purpose he had forgotten that he buttoned the jacket pocket the ring was in and in hesitation said we were there to take pictures.  He then proceeded to ask if I would be his wife and of course I said yes!  After shedding a few joyful tears a woman (who wasnt there before the proposal, oddly we were there all alone when we he popped the question) approached us no later than 30 seconds after he had proposed and offered to take our picture.  I never imagined I would get engaged to the greatest man in the greatest city!  The proposal set the tone for the rest of our week in NYC.  On top of getting engaged in NY we also got to celebrate my Fiances 30th.  I cant imagine I will ever have a better vacation than Spring Break of 2010!  We both look forward to planning our wedding back here in Az in 2011.
