Setting a Date

I have a dilemma. We put a deposit down to get married in September and we thought that Saturday would be the best day. We just recently found out that Sundays would work best for the Groom's side of the family because they simply can't afford to close their business on the busiest day of the week. However, I have family members flying in from the West Coast, that if I have a wedding on a Sunday, they would have to fly back on Monday and I have people missing work or school. What is the best way to resolve this predicament? HELP

Re: Setting a Date

  • I don't know what type of business your FI's  side has, but it is like 10 months away.  Depending on time of day and travel to ceremony, is it possible to only close early or have someone (non-relative) oversee the day if they must be open all day?  I doubt if anyone has bought airline tickets yet but maybe you could either call or email them to see what their thoughts are.  If it is on a Sat, sounds like Fri will be travel day.  If they fly in on Sat, could Monday be the travel day?  I think you are going to need to do a little investigating, and  fast, since many people must request work time off before the start of the new year.  I am going to a wedding tonight that relatives  from both coast traveled for and it is in Kentucky.  They selected Fri and Mon as travel days to allow time to spend with relatives.  Most people, if they are buying airfare, usually don't mind an extra day if they are traveling.  Good luck!!
  • Could you have it late Saturday night, like 8PM? Most businesses I can think of would close by 10ish, so unless they have a bar or something open 24 hours they wouldn't have to have someone else fill in for THAT long. Or you could do Sunday early afternoon.
