Hi Ladies!
Ive been posting for a few weeks now and decided I would share my engagement story. A few months ago my FI and I were living together with his 3 other roomates from University in a house (my FI and his friends were living together and I moved in with them, at this time we were just dating BF/GF). We decided to move out and get our own place cause things were just really crowded. We started moving out stuff to the other place on December 15/16 (his best friend and gf came to help us move and we all ended up crashing at the house that night after dinner, the next morning his friend and his gf left). That day we went shopping at ikea and if anything happened or if we got into a disagreement he would be like "no I want today to be an amazing day" and just give into me (I was able to convince him to get some really girl stuff for the house he wouldnt have agreed to other times) I figured he was just saying this becuase he wanted our first night at our own place to be good.
When we got home later that day he told me he had a present to give me later that day, since it was close to Christmas I thought he was going to give me an early Christmas present so I didnt think much of it. Finally we were getting ready for bed amd he gave me this box, so I opened it and pulled out a Toronto Maple Leaf's Jersey (I'm a HUGEEE leafs fan unfortunately) & when i pulled it out it had '17' (the day we officially got our own place) & HIS last name on the back (we had spoken before about last names and getting married and I said I wanted to take his last name). I was a bit confused and when i put the jersey down he was infront of me down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Obviously I said yes. That night i was in bliss, we just spent the night together just us, we didnt tell anyone yet. The next morning before I went to work we made calls and told everyone.
His family had known he was going to ask me and his best friend did as well (his best friend who was previously against commitment and essentially a player) had supported him completely when he told him he wanted to ask me to marry him which meant a lot to me too.
it was a simple proposal but I loved it and I love the ring (its a Vera Wang and EXACTLY what I wanted). We wanted to intially get married September 2012 but the venue we wanted was all booked up for 2012 so we then decided on Spring 2013.
