Re: Tricky ring situation

  • I also had a promise ring but I wear it occasionally on my right hand.  The only pieces of jewelry I consistently wear are my e-ring and wedding band.

[QUOTE]I'm not sure I'm following.  The band with the diamonds, that looks like a wedding band...is that your engagement ring?  And the ring that looks like an engagement ring is your promise ring?

<div>No you have it backwards...lol....the band that looks like a wedding band is my proimse ring.  and the band that looks like an engagement ring is my engagement ring.  Hope that made it more clear for you</div>

  • I LOVED my promise ring, however, as soon I got my engagement ring, I looked at it as a new promise, I know that my promise ring and I have been through a lot, and I hated putting it away, but when I look at my engagement ring, I see a new promise, rather, the same promise just doubled promised. lol
He stole my heart, so I'm stealing his last name.
  • Why are you insisting on wearing them together? I've never heard of that.

Just wear it on your right hand or stop wearing it. Wearing it with your engagement ring makes it look like a wedding band.
  • FI gave a ring for my birthday the year before we got engaged, it was kind of a promise ring. Sometimes I wear it on my right hand and sometimes not at all. The only thing I wear every day is my E-ring.

  • Why not put it away for now and use it as a wedding band when you get married?  They look really good together.

Maybe it's just my eyes or the angle the pic was taken, but does your promise ring have a little bit of a dent in the center, the way a wedding band would? The rings look perfect with each other, but it does look like a wedding band. I'd assume you were already married.

I voted to soder it to your RH ring, but now I kind of think you should use it as your wedding band. They go together really well.

ETA: The combo of the two rings looks exactly like my combo. Maybe that's why I'm biased.
  • Ya, I wouldn't wear the promise ring with your e-ring. It looks like an e-ring and wedding band. You'll likely regret it when you have an actual wedding band. And people will think you're already married now.

I don't wear my promise ring very often anymore, but when I do, it's on my right hand. I have a few rings I wear on my right hand, and just switch from day to day, depending on the other jewelry I'm wearing.

    Life is good today.
  • Move the promise ring to your right hand.  ANd who cares if you already have a right hand ring?  If you wear the right hand ring on your ring finger then size the promise ring for your pointer finger or something.  You do have 10 fingers to choose from! lol

I would move your promise ring to your right hand.

  • i have never heard of a promise ring even being worn on the left hand. It is NOT an engagement ring & i thought the left hand was just for wedding rings & engagement rings. I even looked it up & the concensus is not the ring finger on left hand. It does look like a wedding band though so i would use it as a wedding band when you get married.

  • If you resize it (if you even need to) you can wear it on any finger you want besides your left ring finger (since it looks like a wedding band there). I wear my Claddagh ring on my middle finger, partly because it's too big for my ring finger anyway and partly so I can wear it with my E and wedding rings since it does belong on the left hand now (it's a relationship status ring more than a promise ring so it actually matters how you wear it). So if promise rings are supposed to be worn on the right hand and it doesn't fit with your other ring very well then wear it on your right middle finger. Or your index finger if you prefer.
