Proposal:
It was my birthday (July 11th), and I was being taunted by a rather large present sitting on John's ottoman. I asked him when I was opening it, and he said after dinner. We went to Uno's, where we both had pizza. We got back to his apartment, and he said we had to eat dessert, first (which he made). It was a yummy Reeses dessert, and when we were done he told me I could finally open then present.
We went over to the couch, I sat on the couch and he sat on the floor on the other side of the ottoman. I unwrapped the box (it was a USPS shipping box) and opened it up. Inside was a ceramic curling stone cookie jar that I'd seen at the curling club so many times and had thought was cute. I opened it up and saw a card inside. He told me open the card first. It was cute and adorable and, thinking that was it, I knelt down to kiss him and say thanks. He pointed at the box, though, so I got back on the couch and sifted through the tissue paper and found a black box. Confused, I opened the black box to find another black box, this one cuter and with a little latch. I gave John a confused looked, then opened it to find a beautiful ring.
At this point, John said my face turned beet red. He took the ring (he was already kneeling) and asked if I'd marry him. I said, "Of course!"
Hi all, I've been lurking around the site since the 11th and finally decided to start participating in the discussion boards. A little background info: We met at the curling club (that winter sport) in October and a couple months later we knew we were meant for each other. We started thinking about wedding ideas, and when I was in Europe at the end of May he took my school ring to buy an engagement ring. He designed it himself with almost no guidance from me (it had to be white gold and the diamond couldnt be too big). The two stones on the sides are real rubies (my birthstone. His is a diamond, so it's perfect).
Our date is June 30th, 2012, and I already have my dress ($99 at David's Bridal! It was from last year and they had it marked way way down), venue and officiant booked, and a bunch of ideas.
