Hi all,
Just thought I'd do a quick intro - my boyfriend of 5.5 years proposed yesterday and we are very excited!
The proposal story:
My fiance is in the Navy and was at a Battle of the Atlantic ceremony all morning. He came back to find me still in my pjs watching TLC's Four Weddings (how perfect, eh?). We had our drink to fallen friends and he said he was going to get changed out of his uniform. Suddenly the power went out (he shut it off so the TV wouldn't be on :P) and he came in, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Apparently I cried as if he had destroyed my life (as he likes to say) and of course I said "YES!" followed immdiately by "but our power just went out..."
He had a bit of a panic attack after that and asked me a few times if he could have a re-do because he "didn't like that one", but I think he got used to the idea and we're good now!

We aren't extravagant people by any means so we are planning a simple wedding (read: no wedding party, favors, etc) and having a grand old party afterwards. We're lucky in that we have full support of both families (we are all really close) and everyone has been very adament that we do it as we want to. The only person I think we might run into trouble with is his grandmother who has already sent forth suggestions for 2 flowergirls (which we aren't having either)... But we'll deal with that later

Here the ring (I personally don't like diamonds - and wanted a ruby ring instead) ~ and no, nether the proposal nor ring had anything to do with the Royal Wedding (we've been asked 7 times thus far!:

That's about it!
