My fiance and I became engaged over the weekend, after an amazing three years together.
We are thrilled to be celebrating this time in our lives, and are tentatively planning on an engagement of about two years. One reason for this is due to our somewhat unique situation: He is English, I am American. We have looked briefly into what is required of us as far as the government is concerned, but have no concrete details as of yet.
I am wondering if any other brides on here have married someone from another country, and if so, what their experience was with filing for visas, etc.? Did you hire a lawyer to help with the paperwork? About how long did it all take? We are planning to be married here in the US, and to live here after our marriage.
