Not too newly engaged, but finally getting with it!

Hi everyone! This seems to be the place where we can introduce ourselves. I got engaged just between this past Christmas and New Year's, so a little more than six months ago, but we're doing a long engagement (October 2012), so we're just now starting the planning process. I look forward to any help that The Knot can provide!

Why October 2012? You wont need to start any planning for at least a year. Oh and congrats!

We wanted fall, but didn't want to start planning officially until the start of next year, due to family reasons. I didn't want to try to do it in less than a year, so 2012 it is!

Welcome to the board.  Once the new year comes you may want to start looking at venues because they book fast especially if you want a special date/place.  My FI and I have our hearts set on a St. Patty's Day wedding in 2012 and it's already booked some places!  Luckly the venue I want is available but they will only hold the date for 30 days without a deposit.  Someone else inquired about the date but we got it first.  We're putting our deposit down Friday to secure the date.
