little late in posting, just now getting into the message board thing!
I had been dreading my 30th birthday (in last December) for years. All I wanted was to not be alone, even if it was just a friend on my arm as my date, just not being sad and single. Two months before, I ended up meeting Chris, we hit it right off, and even with the three hour drive between us, it was SO easy and fun and it had never been like that before. Fast-forward to my birthday (you can already see where this is going..

We went to visit my parents that morning, Chris got my dad outside and showed him the ring and formally asked his permission

Apparently he said yes!

We were going to meet up with a handful of my closest friends for dinner downtown after taking a holiday horse-drawn carriage ride and toasting marshmallows and sipping hot cocoa. In downtown Charleston SC, during the holiday season, Francis Marion Square is a big open park that they go nuts with the holiday lights. Palmetto trees are wrapped in lights, shrubs sparkle, and in the middle of all of it is a 60' "tree" of lights. I had a feeling something was coming when he was dragging his feet to get to the restaurant, but wasn't sure what was going to happen. We came across four girls in the park, who asked if we could take their picture. Sure! So they handed me their camera and I snapped a few of them under the big tree. So we ask if they could return the favor, and just as she said "one.. two.. three...chee-" he dropped to one knee, ring in hand, and asked me to be his wife

Of course I said yes! ;D Those girls went NUTS!!

it was so awesome!!! They were even calling their friends telling them what had happened

We decided to tell everyone at dinner, and after dealing with a minor snafu, I came back inside and decided to propose a toast, to my wonderful friends who were there to celebrate my birthday with me... and to my finace

I'm amazed nobody dropped their glass

The waiter thought someone had hurt themselves or something from the sudden gasp at our table! That silence lasted about two seconds, then the happy excitement gusheed out of everyone!
Needless to say, was the best birthday EVER, the most wonderful proposal, I couldn't be happier

My friend saw the picture and said it was like getting proposed to under a million stars, every girl's dream

Here's the picture, it's a little grainy and a little blury, but one of my absolute most cherished pictures
