After a year and a half of being together, my SO, Vic proposed last night at Yesteryear's Karoke in front of about 60 people.
Any time we go there, Vic always sings Elvis' "Cant help falling in love with you", and I always walk up at the end of the serenade and kiss him. Apparently he was banking on that gesture last night.
To preface this, I recently (2 weeks ago) had sinus surgery and had stents removed from my nose 3 days ago, so my nose was pretty sore and tender.
My first two marriages were not from the result of actually being asked, so I had told Vic, that it would be nice to be asked to marry. Rather than "Hey let's pick date? eh?"......seriously!
So when the song was finished, I, like always, walk up to the stage and gave Vic a big kiss and put my arms around him. As I turned to step off of the stage, he said "Wait, thats not all"
At the moment, THE ENTIRE BAR FELL SILENT. You could hear a cricket break wind....
He then told me that I have been his best friend, his lover and his soulmate and that he wanted that to be forever. He pulled a ring box from his jacket pocket and I saw this sweet, beautiful ring in front of me.
And then,,,,,it happened.,,,,before I could even get a YES out of my mouth..my nose began to pour blood. Because of a long drop fall I had when I was 4, I have been used to nosebleeds. But this one took the cake. my hands, my nose and mouth were covered, tons of spots all over the floor...
I was so embarrassed. but a friend of mine handed me a wad of papertowels and Vic jokingly said to the crowd that I still hadnt given him an answer. I grabbed the microphone and said YES!!...
Everyone in the joint clapped, cheered and just came up all night long to congratulate us.
I went to the bathroom to get cleaned up and came back out and tried the ring on. Vic did a really good job. I told him that the ring could have been made of glass or CZ, as long as the metal was real. But he said he had been saving up and wanted me to have something nicer than a Cracker Jack box ring.
Later that night I found out that a woman in the audience had videoed the proposal on her iPhone and she said she would email it to me
