Newbie and confused...help!

Hi All! I am new to this site as well as being "engaged". My fiance and I have been friends for an eternity and starting dating 2 years ago. From the beginning we both knew what we wanted. We always talked about marriage, the past few months a lot more seriously. He is several years older than I (he is 36, i am 31), and he has never been married. We started looking at places and deciding on a budget. A few weeks ago we went back to the original place we were interested in - Ravello's in East Hanover, NJ, and booked our wedding for June 4, 2011!!! Exciting-yes, very much so! Only problem is, he hasn't actually proposed yet??? I have no ring, therefore I really haven't started to tell everyone. Both of our immediate families know, and a friend or 2. Should I be concerned about this? I'm not saying that a ring is everything, but, it kind of seals the deal. I am getting impatient, and not so sure what to do? It's not like we/he can't afford a ring, he certainly can. Advice please

I can totally understand how you feel, my fiance and I were together for 9 years before he proposed. and we talked about it throughout the years, and then in the last year a little more seriously, and yet I still went with no proposal.

My advice is be patient, if you both decided and went and booked the date and venue then it is obviously coming, he probably wants it to be somewhat of a surprise, you know its going to happen but the where when and how he might want to plan himself, you know what i mean?

No, not really.  Guys are weird.  My FI and I "knew" we were getting married, had the date in mind, the venue and still no ring.  When I stopped talking about it, he finally proposed and it was just that he wanted to do it the way he wanted to do it.  Don't let this stress you.  He obviously loves you and plans on marrying you. :)

IMO you are engaged. I would tell everyone. If you both agreed to be married and booking stuff you are engaged. Tell people. I dont understand booking things if you are not telling people yet.

We did this exact thing...I'd already booked the venue and photographer before he proposed!  Just be patient...he'll rise to the occasion when he's ready.

OMG.... My wedding is going to be on June 4th 2011 too!!!!!!  Except I'm in Miami, FL. Cool!
