The beginning of this year is certainly one to remember!
My FI and I have been talking about marriage since our 3rd month of dating, and had been actively planning it since 6 months. There was no ring, so we weren't "official" in his eyes, and I knew that he wanted to get one for me.
This year I spent my New Year with his family in DC. We had a countdown party, had fun, laughed and joked with each other. I knew something was going on because his sister would stare at him every once in a while. Well.. the party finished and I was helping him clean up, when he told me to come to his room with him.... I came to the room and he told me how much he loved me, I did the same and we hugged.. unknown to me that while we were hugging, he was taking the ring out of the box. He then looked at me.. took my hand, and asked me to be his wife!
I was soooo shocked! I was certain it wouldn't come for another couple months... I told my family the next day (he proposed at 3:30 am on New Years Day), and his family apparently already knew!...
Unfortunately, his plan didn't really work out the way he wanted (he wanted to ask in front of all his family), but the way he asked was so sweet, and I couldn't be happier!
