I am going to be getting my mother's engagement ring, she passed away a few years ago and my step-father has been saving it for me. He has apparently misplaced it and I am wearing a different family member's ring for now, but once he finds it I'm wondering if it would be wrong to have the now yellow gold band changed to white gold. I hear that a jeweler can remove the stones from the band and dip it in white gold. Does anyone know about this process? Is it ok to change the band color or will my family be embarrassed that I changed the ring?
