On my 15th birthday I was sitting in church when my dad walked to the stage, music started and by the time he was done singing "Butterfly Kisses" to me, there was not a dry eye in the place. Fast forward two years, I was a senior in high school, my dad was diagnosed with cancer six months earlier. He passed away one October morning and I was devastated that the words he sang to me would never come true. He would never meet my future husband, and walk me down the aisle to give me away. December 19 2010 my boyfriend told me he had something to show me. He got the computer and started a slideshow to a song we love "Can't Stop Loving You" by Whiskey Falls. The slideshow consisted of pictures of us throughout our 14 month relationship. It was so sweet and I was in tears before the song ended, then another song started..."Butterfly Kisses". With this song were pictures he had gone to the church to get. The church my dad sang to me at, the church I grew up in, the church that my fiancé's grandfather baptized me at (we didn't realize this until after we met) and the church that my dad was buried at. After this song ended a video started- it was my fiance at my dad's grave asking for my hand in marriage and promising to take care of me and love me for the rest of my life. When it ended, he was down on one knee, he told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. With tears in both of our eyes, of course I said YES!!
