Dress cleaned/pressed: recs?

I have a simple dress, no beadwork, lace, etc.  Just some organza in the back.  I bought it used and need to get it cleaned but everywhere I call says to bring the dress in for pricing.  I don't drive (poor FI...chauffeur!) so that would be a PITA.  Mind telling me where you had your dress cleaned and how much it cost, approximately?  Thanks!

I have no recs but I think if you stay in one vicinity to look the prices would prob run in about the same range.  Also adding your location will help.

Area doesn't particularly matter to me.  I live on the west side of Cleveland but we're in Akron/Fairlawn a lot (FI's parents live there).  I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.  I pick up the dress from the tailor this week so I guess I'll just harass my FI to drive me around for a bit.  THanks.

I had my dress cleaned at Master Cleaners in Berea and they did a great job for a very LOW price. Here's my story: My dress is a 2 piece. I brought the (long, plain, pleated, but no beads or lace) skirt to them one week for cleaning and they billed it as a 'formal skirt', at something like $11. A couple weeks later, I brought the (beaded) corset top to them for cleaning which was billed as a 'women's beaded top' and cost me around $15. Basically, all told, it cost me $26 to get my wedding gown cleaned. They do pressing, too, but I don't remember if I had mine pressed (this was after the wedding). Now, I know yours isn't likely a 2 piece, but their prices seem very reasonable overall. It would at least be worth a call. Even if you have to bring the dress to them for a quote, they'd likely be well priced.

Be careful with drycleaning-- make sure they can guarantee that the color won't change and that it won't shrink.  White can pick up dyes from other fabrics that have been washed with the fluid that is re-used.   Most cleaners will have a special process for handling bridal gowns, it is probably worth the extra $$.    Shrinkage- I loaned a JLM Couture gown to a younger friend to use as a prom dress.  She had it cleaned and discovered that it had shrunk and no longer fit.  Hopefully your FI understands the importance of treating the dress properly and how important it will be to you on your wedding day.  I hope he jumps at the chance to help with this wedding detail! If you decide to just press/steam the dress and spot clean it, try Alterations Express on Mayfield-  they're reasonable and very quick.  I don't think they have a special 'up charge' just for it being a wedding dress, either.  My steaming was included with my alterations.
