Moissanite

Hello I am new to the board so I am not sure how to search and see if there has been posts about this but....

Does anyone have a Moissanite engagement ring?  If so...is it really noticeable that it is not a diamond?  Is the stone holding up well even through use?

Any info would be wonderful!  Thanks!
Christine

Re: Moissanite

  • I'm wondering the same thing. There's a lot I like about this stone, for 1 it was discovered in Arizona (my home!) and I'm 100% behind the lab created idea. I just sent my boyfriend the ring I want from moissaniteco.com so any feedback from someone who might already have one would be awesome!
  • You should also post this question over on the Eco-Friendly Weddings board.  I think there's some girls there that have Moissanite rings.

FI and I were looking at moissanite jewelry last weekend. There's a new jewelry store in our local mall that sells it so we wanted to see what they had.  I have a diamond e-ring and with mine and a moissanite ring next to eachother you could tell a difference.  But we both agreed that if we saw a moissanite ring on a girl's hand we wouldn't think "that's not a real diamond".  The moissanite just didn't sparkle the same way the diamond did in the same light.

  • I have a moissanite ring and I absolutely looove it!  It actually has 2.4 times more "fire" (or sparkle) than diamonds so I get tons of compliments on how pretty it is.  If you buy a high quailty stone then honestly, you can't tell it's not a diamond (only that it's prettier!). Moissanite is made from a combo of silicon and carbon and is second to diamonds in strength.  I highly recommend going to moissanite.com to read more about them, but from one lady to another: moissanite is THE way to go!
  • I went and checked out some moissanite rings a few days ago. WOW is all I can say. So incredibly sparkly and a fraction of the price of a diamond (also, JC Penny is having a huge sale in the next week or so on everything including moissanite *wink wink*). I dropped some pretty heavy hints....anyway...I don't think I ever want a real diamond again. Moissanite is just so much more beautiful.
  • Personally I can't tell moissanite from real diamonds. They are so pretty though! I dislike the diamond industry so I really like this alternative.
