Just Engaged and Proposals

Finding the moment

My FI and I have been dating since early 2005. Although we had talked much about marriage, he was never really ready to make that commitment. This past weekend we went down to Long Island to visit relatives. My cousin had this eautiful sweet 16 party and it was just lovely to be with everyone. The following night, my FI and I went to dinner with my grandmother and my aunt, two people who I am very close with and are very dear to my heart.

We were eating at the Cheesecake Factory (one of my favorite places!) and the night was merry. After desert he took my hand and smiled. He reached into his pocket.

"I know this isn't the most romantic thing, but would you be my wife?" He asked as he held out the ring. I Was actually shocked and surprised and everything all in one. After 6 long years we're finally engaged.

Looking back it wasn't the most romantic proposal, but it was the perfect one for us. I am so glad he thought to include my grandmother and aunt and let them bear witness. It was a special moment for us all.

Afterwards he commented saying that he had the ring for 6 months. He said he keep trying to do it, but it never was the right time. I'm glad he picked the time he did <3
