Ring Stone Help(please)

 I am not "officially" engaged~the only thing missing is the actual proposal and ring(we've already started planning!)

I was engaged once before and got a diamond and I do not want another diamond. I have several and want something different and unique(and lime green if I can find it) I asked my boyfriend if I could pick out my stone and he can do the rest. 

I was on the hunt for a green sapphire and searched for just the right shade to no avail.  Peridot is the perfect color, but it's too soft of a stone.  And then a jewler told me about Chrysoberyl which is an under used gem.  It comes in at 8.5 on the Mohr's scale.  And the color~amazing and perfect!

This is not the actual gem, but one pretty much like it.  It will be set in a diamond halo in white gold.

What do you think? I love that I can google Chrysoberyl Engagement Rings and come up pretty much empty handed.  It's unique, it's beauitful and it's my color!

I've never heard of that stone before but the picture looks nice. Originally I wanted a pale green sapphire and I loved the selection at www.thenaturalsapphirecompany.com (have you looked there?), but we ended up using an heirloom piece from FI's family instead (which I love). I'd still like to get a green sapphire ring one day though.

If that's what you like, then there's no reason you can't have it as an engagement ring.

My engagement ring is an heirloom ring of sapphires and a diamond. You can have whatever type of ring you like. I'd suggest finding a jewelry store that specializes in vintage jewelry and you might find something there.

My ring is Alexandrite (which is a type of Chrysoberyl) and I love it. The term covers a number of stones with the same composition, including Alexandrite and Cat's Eye. If you look up "green chrysoberyl ring" you get a lot of hits if you want to look at some of those:

thanks!  I love it!  Chrysoberyl is in the same family as Alexandrite.  While not very rare, it is not widely used in jewlery for some reason.

have you seen what a Paraiba looks like or Tsavorite maybe even a green garnet is very nice.. Very beautiful green stones!
