The waiting is killing me!

Hello all

Im new to the knot and just got engaged April 21. We set our date for August 20 2011 wich is a great date as it has meaning for both of us its the month we met in and the date that he moved in with me. All that being said I feel like I cant do any planning because lets face it, it's too early! Its driving me crazy, wedding is on the brain and there is nothing I can do about it. Anyone else feel this way?

some places need you to book 18 mos to 2 years in advance!!! So really its never too early to plan!!! We started planning right after we got engaged in December and we aren't getting married till May of 2011!! Attend bridal shows, make a plan, budget and get an idea of what you want!!! Once you get it down you can just start saving and tweaking and it will help with stress as the day gets closer!!!! Take the excitement you have and run with it!!! I had everything priced out for a budget by March!! Make your questioneres for caters, locations etc... There's a lot you can do really early!!!

The only problem with that is I can only do so much, this is my second wedding. My husband passed away 5 years ago and left me with 4 children and no money, I have a very limited budget and Im not planning anything big so there is no hall anything like that. I have already priced the rings, made the appointment with the church and am online constantly looking for the little details but since its so far away I cant do any shopping yet. Although I really want to start buying items so that it comes off slowly throughout the year instead of one lump sum. Thanks for the advice, congratulations and happy planning

Why dont you move the date for this August!? I know plenty of people who set a date, realized they dont need that much time (whats the point in waiting) and changed it. Same date, same meaning, a year early.

Why can't you start buying stuff now? It makes it easier to spread it out. We started buying stuff 16 months out.

Yeah, why can't you do any shopping now? If you're on a limited budget, buying wedding items piece-meal is the best way to go. You don't have the burden of a huge expense all at once.

I cant move the date up. We are getting married in the catholic church and are required to wait a year...not sure why.

Start looking for sales now. Figure out your colors, what kind of center pieces you want, if you're going to buy linens, ceremony decorations, etc. You can start buying all of that stuff now so you don't have to right before the wedding. GL!

Yeah! Start planning why not!! You don't even have to buy things yet, just gather ideas, start a book, go to the wedding shows and things! Have fun!!

Do not worry about it, actually you will have some fun for preparing, such like DIY your invitation card, flowers, cakes, etc... and you can discuss all these stuff with your fiance, I think it will good for bugging him to save money,lol :-P and you two will love each other more.
